Happy Birthday To... Me!

My birthday invitation from 3rd or 4th grade

Today is my birthday.
I am 60 years old.
Sixty.

I might start to believe it if I say it enough.
Yes, I definitely look older... I notice that every day!
But I just don't feel like I have really ever grown up inside.

Like many children, I had to grow up way too soon in so many ways.
But I still feel like I never REALLY grew up.

I have gone through my childhood pictures to make
this post and it brought back an abundance of feelings.

Some good, and some not so good.

If I had to do it over again I would try to know myself.
To appreciate  what makes me... me.

To feel that I was special.

This is a VERY long post and it is all about me...
But since it is my birthday I felt that I could indulge myself.

After all... today should be about me :)

 My first ten years.

Yes!
I am a natural blond...
or at least I started out that way.

This was my 4th birthday.
I just love that little dress!

1st grade school picture

A true product of the early 5o's with my little "pop pearls".
Did any of you have those "pearls" that popped together
so you could have any length necklace you wanted?

At seven I thought I was going to be a ballerina...
but what's with that lipstick and mascara?!

My mom was an RN and she worked as the camp nurse during her vacations,
just so I could go to Campfire Girls Camp for two weeks.

My teen years.

7th grade school picture

Time for those bangs to finally go...
and for the braces to arrive.

High School.
I wish I had still had those eyelashes!

My 20's

Honeymoon #1

We backpacked (hiked and slept in the wilderness)  in the
Olympic National Forest in Washington State for two weeks.

Honeymoon#2

Nine years later and the start of
my second (and last) marriage.
It's been 33 years so far...

My 30's

Two marriages and two sets of kids
kept me busy as a stay at home mom.

My 40's

At 45 I was heavily into gardening.

My 4th granddaughter arrived when I was 49.

My 50"s

In my early 50's I worked for Estee Lauder.
That was my first full time job since
I was now an empty nester.

Then I worked for Ethan Allen
in Northern California.

Then again in DFW, Texas

At 57 I was a nanny for six wonderful months!

This is what my hair looked like 18 mos. ago
when we first moved to Palm Desert, Ca.

This is how long it is now.

I just let go... I know it is way too long for my age.
I was planning on getting it cut for my birthday
but I just don't know how what style I want.

If you look closely you can see that those sunglasses are hiding
my black eye that I posted about a few weeks ago.
It is all better now but I haven't yet taken a picture.
Maybe I will share one as soon as I get that haircut...

That's all folks!

I spent the whole day going through all my old family photographs.
Since I am here alone on my birthday
(The Mr. is in North Dakota for a few weeks)
I thought that it would be a nice way
to remember some family moments.

Thank you so much for allowing me to share some
pictures from the last six decades... yikes!

I Just Can't Decide!

I have trouble making decisions...
Do you have that problem too?

I can't remember if I was always this way
or if this is just one more change brought on by
"the change of life".

Remembering is also an issue.

Senility Prayer Cross Stitch

Sometimes it works to my advantage.
But then my eyesight is not as good as it was either.
Getting old is certainly a challenge.

Staying focused is also a big problem.

So, getting back to the issue at hand....
I have been trying to figure out how to decorate our new Desert Home. Were we have lived since January... of last year

This is so hard to admit, especially since I was in the business
of decorating beautiful rooms for other people.
I knew better than to confuse my clients with too many choices.

So why can't I do that for me?

I tend to overwork every little detail...
as if any decision is my last chance for perfection.
Yes... I have have "analysis paralysis".

All I want to do is find the upholstered pieces for the greatroom.
A room that is really not so great in size or character.
But I have narrowed it down to a sectional.

So at least now I am on the hunt for a sectional...
not just any section, but the perfect sectional!
Oh my, will it never end?

I just wanted to share this side of me.
I am not really asking for any solutions here.
It's just something I just need to get over.

Can you tell that I am a perfectionist?
Which is just as nicer name for procrastinator
After all... I realize perfection is really unobtainable.

But I would like to know that I am not
the only one with issues.

Later this week I hope to share some pictures
of the sectionals I am considering.
Then I would love your input!

Reminder:

Wednesday's Bunny Hop Party
will be up and running TODAY at 4:00 Pacific time.
See you then!

Wednesday’s Bunny Hop Party #35

I am SO glad that Easter is over.

Now I can put away all those half finished Easter projects!
If I was smart (which I am .... at least sometimes)
I would finish them so that I would would be ready for next year.

But truth be told... I am sorta lazy (which I am all the time).
So I may just end up packing it all up.
All The MR. asked is that I get it off the counter!

So I put it on the kitchen table...

I must be in the 'lazy' minority as I saw weeks and weeks
of the most beautiful, frugal, creative, delicious,
magazine worthy Easter ideas shared all over blogland.

Many of which were shared right here at the Bunny Hop Party!
So today I would like to share a few just in case you missed them.
Click on the pictures to visit the complete post..

My Heart's Song

These are 'jiffy pots' that are Mod Podged!

With A Dash Of Color

Love the moss ring around the stack of dishes... I'll be doing that!

Of course I have to show you what
Phyllis shared again this year.
I think just about everyone requested that she share this again this year.
But if you were the only one to miss it... check it out.

If you were featured today you are welcome to take
this button home to display on your sidebar.

Thank you to all who participated in my party.
Whether you shared a post or just visited.
You are appreciated!

Bunny Jean and the Easter Bunny

My picture with the

Easter Bunny.

I think this must have been around 1957.
I don't really know, but I look to be about 5.
I think I was a little cutie... who else had those bangs?

I have no idea why my mother dressed me in that brown dress!
It was obviously my Autumn dress from the previous season.
Maybe it was an unplanned "photo shoot".

The whole picture is rather drab... what's up with that?!
After all it was the era of TECHNICOLOR!
Maybe bright colors were just saved for the movies...

I hope you all have a colorful Easter.

My Easter Decoration Snapshots

Hippity Hoppity... Hippity Hoppity... Easter's on it's way!

Mr. and Mrs. Bunn E. Rabbit
Wish you a Happy Easter!

Did you by chance happen to notice my
GIGANTIC new Easter header?!
I bet you can see it from outer space...

I hope it didn't scare you when you came to visit.
I guess I am just trying to overcompensate
for my lack of Easter preparedness.

I have TONS of pretties just sitting and waiting to join all the festivities... but it seems that I have been preoccupied, overwhelmed, panic stricken and of course at little bit lazy.
Not to mention kinda late :/

I really don't think I will get around to sharing much of my Easter decor this year. After all it has been a difficult
month or so.  First with that BIG black eye.
Then The Mr.'s unexpected job transition.

A special thank you to all of you sweet bloggers that gave me moral support through out the last few weeks :)
Did you read the good news?

But enough excuses...
I want to share just a few Easter decor items.
Maybe I will share more if I have time.

They are not creative projects or beautiful vignettes like I know all of you have shared... just a couple of snapshots that were sitting around... for a few years.
You can click on all of them to get a bigger picture.

I can't forget this wonderful little Jim Shore
Easter basket filled with colorful carved Easter eggs.

is still going on until Sunday afternoon!

I would LOVE to see what YOU have to share!

xoxo
